hey, lloyd!

Remember Lloyd Christmas from the movie Dumb and Dumber?

That's what Mark has started calling Evan this week.
Not because he's dumb [although that's debatable in this circumstance!].
No, it's because HE. CUT. HIS. HAIR.

Apparently, he did not learn this lesson
when Ryan massacred his own head.
Twice.

Nope, we must learn the hard way around here.
And even though Evan thinks it looks good,
we're still gooping him up
and trying to mask the ridiculousness
until we can get him in for a haircut.

Note to self:
Hide the scissors!

Backseat Banter

On the way to drop off the kids the other morning, this conversation occurred:

E: Mom, when we get up there on the road, I want to show you something funny.

R: What is it? Is a chicken crossing the road?

Made me laugh out loud :)

Funny Stuff

Conversations that have taken place in our house over the past few days...

We were all laying in our bed on Saturday morning and Mark declared that anyone who was jumping on the bed would be kicked out. Evan jumped on the bed and was thus, ejected. He retreated to the floor. Ryan started yelling [I know, big surprise, right?]

Mark: You can get kicked off the bed for yelling, too.

Ryan continues to be loud.

Mark: Alright, Ryan, you're out of here.

Ryan jumps down off the bed to join Evan.

Evan: Welcome to the Not-Fun Place, Ryan.

Tonight at dinner, we were trying to get Ryan to finish his dinner by telling him it would give him strong muscles...

Ryan: I don't have any muscles.

Mark: Yes, you do. Right here [pointing to his big cheeks]

Ryan: I have big muscles there and [pointing to his head] I have little muscles here.

He-he...

Napshot of a Tinker

Ryan has trouble saying his S blends, like sn-, sc-, sp-, st-, etc., so he just drops the S at the front of the words.
So, in our house,
Evan goes to "cool" everyday and "cooters" on Wednesday nights at church...
Nathan and Evan are "tinkers"...
Ryan "pills" something on a daily basis...
Ryan doesn't like it when someone is in his "pot" on mommy & daddy's bed...
Ryan is forever yelling "top!" to his brothers...
All the boys like to "pin" in circles in the kitchen until they are too dizzy to "tand"...
Ryan LOVES doing "cool tuff" everyday with mommy....

The weird thing is that he never had any trouble saying the word "shutup" [thanks, mom ;)]
We nipped that in the bud.

Hopefully, he'll get the hang of this "peech" thing soon!

Mirrors on the What?!?

This past weekend, my friend, Karen, and I went to a scrapbook convention. YES, they have those... :)

We had a blast. We got to see Stacy Julian ~ a celebrity in the scrapbook world, I don't know why I didn't get her picture ~ and we both took our first ever scrapbook classes. We spent 2 days and too much money on wonderful new scrappy goodies. And we got to meet up with some CKMBers IRL [Creating Keepsakes Message Boarders In Real Life]

Rosi (Lil Rosi), Me, Cassie (CDScraps)

Me, Cassie, Kristen (kck182)

The funniest thing that happened while we were there was when we checked in at the hotel. They directed us to our room, saying we took the elevator to the 14th floor and then had to walk up to the 15th floor - we were in a "secluded" part of the hotel.

Well, Karen and I didn't think twice about this but we about died when we got to the 15th floor ~ a.k.a. The Fantasy Suite Floor. (!!!!) What the heck!?! Each door had a title on it ~ like "King for a Night" or "Jungle Room" or "Hollywood." Ours was "Titanic."

We were making so much noise laughing about this in the hallway that another scrapbooker opened her door and said, "Do you believe this?" So, we got to see Pompeii and she came to see the Titanic. She said she expected to see mirrors on the ceiling in her room. Imagine our surprise when we went back to ours and found just that! We even had a hot tub in the middle of the room ~ can you say EWWWWWW?

The best part of our fantasy suite was the fact that there were NO windows and it was still pitch black in our room at 7:15 a.m. Ahhhhhh, sleeping in! Now if that's not a fantasy, I don't know what is...

Happy Birthday to Ryan

I cannot believe my favorite middle guy is 3! today....where does the time go??

We spent the day at the park playing with friends. They were all good and dirty and sweaty by the time we climbed back in the car to head home.

Daddy made dinner - yummy ribs - and then after well-deserved baths, we celebrated with a Dairy Queen ice cream cake - double yummy!

Ryan is such a sweetheart - and he keeps us laughing, too. I love the way he wants to sit with me when he watches t.v. I love the way he says, "I love you, too." I love the way he argues with Evan over who gets to pray at dinnertime. I love the way he plays so hard and then sleeps just as hard. I love the way he always asks for an extra hug and "pish" before bed. I love the way he tries anything once - food and whatever Evan does first :) I love the way he laughs all the time. I love the way he gives his brothers hugs and "pishes." I love the way he runs around with the boys' hamper over his head with only his feet peeking out the bottom [yes, he did that tonight AFTER they were put to bed...ran down the hall, back into his room and dove on his bed, all inside the hamper...YEAH, had a hard time not laughing while threatening him to stay in bed with that one...] I love his independence. I just love this little boy and can't believe how much more he steals my heart each and every day!!

{Can't post pics right now - I'm on the laptop - I'll post some tomorrow}

Smells like...

We just got back from a wonderful girls' weekend in Tennessee for my future sister-in-law, Kim's, bridal shower. Had a lot of fun and I'll post some pics later this week.

Didn't get in until late Sunday night, so I didn't see the boys until yesterday morning. Evan climbed in bed with us and gave me a hug. Then he said, "Hi, Mom." LONG PAUSE...

"You smell like Tennessee."

Where do they come up with this stuff?!?? :)

No Crust Planet

The other day at [our usual peanut butter and jelly sandwich] lunch, Evan looks at me with a scrunchy face and says, "I'm allergic to crust."

I looked at him with the 'OH REALLY' eyebrow half-cocked and said, "Allergic to crust, huh? What planet are you on?"

Without missing a beat, he answered, "No Crust Planet." That must be where all my superhero boys live.

Headbutt

I just love the conversations that I have with my boys. They put a smile on my face in the midst of even the most stressful days!

Yesterday, Evan and I worked on his thank you notes from his birthday. He was so excited to put the finished products in the mailbox and put up the flag. I watched him from the window as he strolled down the driveway and skipped back, flashing me his trademark "thumbs-up!" [see photo] as he went.

When he came back into the house, he asked, "Did I do a good job, mom?"

"You did a great job, buddy. Give me five."

He gave me five, said, "Good job! Headbutt!" and attempted to give me a headbutt.

I guess this comes with boys in the house.

What a hoot!

In the Bag

This conversation took place on the way to school Friday morning:

Mom: Evan, today when we go register for kindergarten, there might be some kindergarten
teachers there who might ask you some questions. They might have you write your name or jump up and down, I don't know. But, all you have to do is answer them and show them how smart you are.

Evan: I've got it in the bag, mom. Don't worry.

Too Much Easter Candy

Took this video literally 15 minutes after the kids had their after dinner "treat from the Easter basket." Don't exactly know where they got the idea to run around with boxes on their heads, but it's pretty amusing :)

BTW ~ this is precisely the reason we don't have an island yet in our kitchen. Figured we'd wait until the kids are done "running around in circles" as Evan and now Ryan call it.

Enjoy!

Chicken Nuggets

Tonight, I was reading Evan & Ryan a book about a farmer whose animals are trying to get him to wake up. We got to the chicken page and there were 3 hens, one with 3 baby chicks around her.

Ryan asked me what they were. I said, "Those are chickens and the little ones are the baby chicks."

"They're chicken nuggets!" he replied.

I totally laughed out loud.

In arrest

Tonight when we were putting the boys to bed, Evan was playing with one of his Rescue Hero figurines. He shot the "grabber" thing around my arm and said, "Come with me...you have to go in arrest."

"I have to go in a rest?" I asked.

"Yep"

"YIPPEEEEE!!!"

If anyone's looking for me, I'll be in a rest.

Brought to you by the Letter K...

Evan learned the letter K last week in school and he had Mark and I in tears with his "watch me make the letter K" stance. NOTE: How Evan's foot KICKS out ~ also, please try to ignore the belly button shot. Enjoy!

Giddy-Up

Nathan is hysterical lately. All he wants to do is move, move, move. Whether it's walking behind the walker, cruising around the furniture, or dancing like Stevie Wonder, he's a mover and a shaker. He's still not walking on his own ~ thank goodness! ~ but I'm betting it will be soon. The other morning, we were lying in bed and he was grabbing onto the footboard and moving his head up and down like he was galloping on a horse (hey, maybe he'll be a jockey - he IS only in the 15th %tile for his height) Of course, when I decided to video him, he didn't do it like he had been, but I think you can get the idea. Too cute!

The Abyss

Everyone has one, right?? That one place in the house that things disappear into and never seem to be found again. It might be the dryer, the junk drawer, an entire room (or rooms - I've seen it happen), or, in my case, a hole in the floor. Technically, I guess it's really not a hole in the floor - it's a heating vent without a cover. You know - the old "take the baseboards off to paint the room and replace them later" trick. But it's been almost 2 years now....gotta love it!

With 3 little monkeys, many things have disappeared down into our abyss. I know there's several balls down there and matchbox cars I couldn't reach. Probably lots of other interesting items that Mark will find when he opens the duct from the basement crawl space. The other day, I had noticed that the matchbox car case was empty and I couldn't seem to find more than 1 or 2 cars lying around. Ryan led me to the abyss and said, "Down here, Mom." Notice the MOM, not MOMMY, btw.

Well, I stuck my hand down there and proceeded to pull out 18, yes 18!, cars! No wonder I couldn't find any! Ryan thought this was so funny when I kept reaching down and bringing up another handful. I actually think there's a few more there that I just couldn't reach. I was afraid that my arm was going to get stuck in the vent ~ and that would be a whole other story!

I guess I know where to start looking the next time something goes missing around here...

Party in My Tummy

Tonight at dinner, Evan was talking to his plate, saying, "Wanna come?" I didn't realize he was talking to his food until I heard, "O.K., let's go to the party in my tummy!" and then saw him take a big bite. SMILE.

After dinner, Evan was standing at the doorway in the kitchen eating his popsicle. The other two were still strapped into their seats. I was running around trying to clean up when I overheard, "So, fellas, what are we going to do tonight? Sleep?" Not only does Evan say this with a completely straight face, but he's got his legs crossed and he's leaning over to one side, like Mr. Casual. HYSTERICAL.

I don't know if Ryan answered him or not - I know Nathan didn't - but I hope the answer was a resounding YES! Or in Ryan-speak, Eh...
